John DeCostanza, Jr. is the Director of University Ministry at Dominican University in River Forest, IL. He is an ecumenical D.Min. candidate and Joseph Cardinal Bernardin Scholar at Catholic Theological Union where his study concentration is Hispanic Theology and Ministry. John’s research interests include US Latin@ theology, critical pedagogy, Catholic higher education and intercultural theology. John has been blessed to walk with the Latinx communities since he landed in the Upper Midwest. He received his Master’s degree in Social Work and Master’s in Divinity from Loyola University Chicago and holds a BA in English from Saint Joseph’s University in Philadelphia, PA. Long ago, he was as a Jesuit Volunteer and community organizer with the Interfaith Committee for Worker Justice in San Diego, CA. John also worked in prison ministry and literacy programs in Chimbote, Peru as an International Lay Volunteer with the Congregation of Christian Brothers. He has been a social worker, educator, and theologian for the last 13 years. John lives in Chicago with his partner in life and faith, Susan, and their three children.
